Saving a small fortune on car insurance

As a motorist, I seem to be constantly paying out money nowadays. The maintenance costs on my vehicle are extremely high, for example, and even things like replacement tyres are very expensive. Petrol seems to go up in price every day at the moment, as well.
However, I have managed to save a small fortune on my car insurance. I looked at a comparison website that a friend of mine had recommended, and I was amazed at the difference in costs that I saw on the site compared to the rather prohibitive amount that was printed on my renewal notice.

Compare perfume prices

When it comes to buying perfume, you should always compare prices online first before you buy.

Because of its perceived quality, retailers are able to charge a huge mark up on perfumes, which most customers are prepared to pay as they feel they are buying into a brand and a particular lifestyle when they buy perfume.

However, if you look online you will find many Internet-based perfume retailers who are willing to forgo some of this extortionate mark up and sell scents and greatly reduced prices. If you do your homework and are prepared to do a little shopping around, there are excellent bargains to be had.

Comparing house prices in the UK

With the UK economy emerging from recession, the national past time of comparing house prices may be back in fashion.

January saw a 1.2 per cent increase in house prices, according to the Nationwide. The annual figures are around 8.6 per cent.

This means the housing market is benefiting from stable and sustained growth. The average house price in the UK is now standing at £163,481.

This is good news for current homeowners and those that are new to the market. After all, if this trend of growth continues, and it looks like it will, they will experience a good return on their initial investment.

Comparison sites to the fore

One of the biggest success stories on the internet has, along with apps, Spotify and Google Chrome has been the continued growth of price comparison sites.

You’ll find a site for everything these days, from home and car insurance to electrical goods and from flights to energy suppliers.

An interesting article on Tech Radar suggests the Christmas retail rush creates almost £45 billion worth of revenue for retailers. With some comparison sites offering savings of up to 20 per cent that would amount of a loss of £6 billion to British stores.

The article also forecasts a strong future for the so-called “click and collect” style of shopping.
