My brief encounter with a souris maison

While staying in a holiday home on a Normandy farm, I heard the scuttling of a souris maison in my room. I didn’t know that phrase at all at the time, however, but my wife is French, and she knew what it was. She informed me, in a bit of a panic, that the sound was caused by a house mouse.

Usually, the presence of a rodent would make her scream in terror, but she was very conscious of the fact that our young children were asleep in the very next room. I’ve never really understood this phobia she has, though, but I always do my best to be sympathetic. A harmless little mouse doesn’t scare me at all.

But I promised to do what I could in the morning, so I went out and bought some bait stations to lay. I had to be very careful where I placed them, however, because they can be harmful to children and pets.

Spa days – a difficult price comparison niche

One of the problems with price comparison sites that they are often not comparing like with like. Take spa days, for example – prices vary enormously between different spas, but, even though you may be getting the same treatments and facilities in each spa, what you actually get for your money will be very different.

Unlike insurance or energy prices, where you are paying for a specific, well-defined service or product, when it comes to spa days, you are paying as much for the ambience and surrounding of the spa itself as much as the service it provides. Rather than choose by price, look to the Internet instead to find reviews from patrons.

Compare the price of Paris flights

A city break on a budget is more accessible these days as we can all find cheap flights with a quick search online. I noticed recently, when I was looking for a romantic break that Paris flights can be found at real bargain prices.

That occasion was for Valentine’s day, and, although I opted for a domestic break at that time instead due to the cost of accommodation in Paris during Valentines, I have since decided to make use of the cheap Paris offers and take time to revisit this amazing city.

When comparing prices online, it is worth looking into all the facets that add up the cost of travel. Although I was able to compare flights to Paris at bargain prices, it was the additional costs of hiked Valentines prices that ruled it out at that time.
